Phoenix Hotel
Nestled into a little part of what is known as the Tenderloin lies this funky urban retreat known as the Phoenix Hotel. In it’s younger years it was nothing more than an old 50’s version of a Palm Springs motel, but check it out now! This place is so cool that the locals hang there. This is not your deluxe hotel mind you, but a hip, funky place to stay and quite possibly find out when/where the next party or event is taking place through the hip group of people who work there. The guest rooms are island-inspired and feature tropical bungalow styling with island furnishings. You can hang out by the pool til 10 or 11PM at nite and listen to the piped-in sounds of frogs and crickets at night. Check out their Bambuddha Lounge located in the courtyard. Often there are parties, or special events going on and sometimes you can join in on the fun. Bambuddha has such ambience, definitely go for a drink and have a look at their SE Asian and Pacific Islands Menu. The Phoenix is also somewhat of a cult status as many different artists have stayed there over the years such as, Joan Jett, Vincent Gallo, The Killers, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers just to name a few. If you’re looking for a little rock n roll in your stay in San Francisco this very well may be the place!
